Reb-M and stevia aren’t the same, even though they’re sometimes confused. Stevia typically refers to older, more commonly used sweeteners that can have a bitter or licorice-like aftertaste. Reb-M (OnoSweet™) is derived from fermented rice.
Reb-M is a newer, much cleaner-tasting sweetener that mimics the sweetness of sugar more closely. It’s made through a fermentation process (similar to how things like vitamins or probiotics are made), which helps eliminate the bitterness and gives it a smoother flavor profile.
So while they’re both used as natural sugar alternatives, Reb-M offers a noticeably better taste experience.
